AFTER suffering a fifth round defeat at the ongoing 2023 Africa Youth Chess championship in Egypt, youngster Tumelo Lwenyeka yesterday bounced back to winning with a victory against Egyptian Abdallah Omar in the sixth round. Lwenyeka has so far recorded five wins and a loss heading into the last round, where he is set to face another Egyptian in Ahmed Omar. The Zambian sits on five points, half a point shy of leader Mohamed Adam of Egypt, while Elsorady Mahmoud was tied with Lwenyeka but with an inferior tiebreak.
