The Industrial Relations Court has stayed Dr Richard Mwiinga’s dismissal from his position as chief executive officer of the Public Service Pension Fund.

In this matter, Dr Mwiinga sued the Public Service Pension Fund and the Attorney General as first and second respondents respectively for wrongful dismissal.

On January 25, 2018, the Industrial Relations Court granted Dr Mwiinga an ex-parte order to stay his dismissal until determination of his matter.

“It is hereby ordered that the decision of the 8th December 2017 (conveyed in the letter dated 27th December 2017 from the interim chairman of the Public Service Pension Fund Board to the Complainant) which decided that the employment contract of the Chief Executive of the Public Service Pension Fund, Dr Richard Mwiinga be not renewed be and is stayed pending the determination of this matter,” read the order.

“It is further ordered that the said Dr Richard Mwiinga shall continue to serve as Chief Executive of the Public Service Pension Fund from 1st March 2018 pending the determination of this matter, and that the costs hereof be in the cause. It is further ordered that the interparte hearing shall be held in chambers on the 9th day of February 2018 at 09:00 hours in the noon.”
