THE Veterinary Association of Zambia (VAZ) says about a month ago, they asked government to quickly act on the aflatoxin in maize and update the nation on it. VAZ President Dr Malcom Chiyoba, however, says government might have delayed to announce the aflatoxin poisoning in order to communicate scientifically backed data. On Tuesday, government confirmed the presence of Aflatoxin in maize products such as mealie meal and animal feed, disclosing that 400 dogs had died in the past one month as a result of poisoning.
