LUSAKA lawyer Makebi Zulu’s assertion that Zambia is no longer governed by the rule of law but by “the will of President Hakainde Hichilema” deserves public debate. While some of Zulu’s concerns are legitimate, particularly when it comes to selective application of the law, one must critically assess whether Zambia truly lacks the rule of law under the UPND government — or if this is a continuation of political narratives rooted in the experiences of the Patriotic Front regime.
