A FORENSIC audit into the suspected theft and resale of USAID-funded medicines has found no evidence that two Zambian pharmacies resold donated drugs to the Zambia Medicines and Medical Supplies Agency (ZAMMSA). The audit, conducted by PwC, examined supplies from Ace Pharmaceuticals Ltd and Lubuto Pharmaceuticals after medicines they provided were found to have identical batch numbers to those in USAID consignments. According to the report, both companies were able to prove that they had legitimately purchased the medicines from Mylan Pharmaceuticals in India, the same manufacturer that supplies USAID.
