Police in Petauke have charged Rogers Mwanza 28, with Indescent Assault on a female and production and circulation of obscene material.

Mwanza is a suspect in a video that went viral last week where he confessed to have had sexual intercourse with an unconscious woman and later invited other men to join him in the act before circulating it.

Zambia Police spokesperson Esther Mwaata Katongo stated, Monday, that Mwanza was still in Police custody and would appear in court soon.

“Police in Petauke have charged Rodgers Mwanza, 28 (and not 38 as earlier communicated) of Petauke with Indescent Assault on female contrary to section 137 and production and circulation of Obscene material contrary to section 177 (a) of the penal code chapter 87 of the Laws of Zambia. He is scheduled to appear in court soon,” stated Katongo.

If found guilty, Mwanza is likely to face a prison sentence of up to 19 years as Indescent Assault carries a sentence of 14 years while production and circulation of Obscene Material is five years imprisonment with hard labour.
