FORMER University of Zambia (UNZA) vice-chancellor Professor Luke Mumba says successive governments have not taken time to expand the university’s infrastructure, which is why it is experiencing sewer and water system challenges. Prof Mumba also says the K23 million government recently released to address sanitation challenges at the university is just a drop in the ocean. Last Thursday, UNZA Vice-Chancellor Prof Mundia Muya said the university’s sewer network and water systems were overloaded, as they were constructed for 4,000 students, not the current resident population of about 28,000.
