THE Human Rights Commission (HRC) has called for all information holders to fully comply with the Access to Information Act (ATI) following the expiry of a two-year progressive compliance period. HRC Chairperson Dr Pamela Sambo says while some institutions have appointed information officers and taken initial steps toward meeting the ATI Act, others are yet to fully align their internal processes with its requirements. In 2024, former Information and Media minister Cornelius Mweetwa signed Statutory Instrument No.35 of 2024, which operationalised the Access to Information law.
