THE Zambia Statistics Agency (ZAMSTATS) has selected 2023 as the new GDP base year, citing its ability to capture the current economic structure, and availability of benchmark data. ZAMSTATS Statistician General Sheila Mudenda says continuing to measure today’s economy using a 2010 benchmark would no longer give the most accurate representation of Zambia’s current economic activity or reality.
