IF you are unemployed, you should be first on the queue to vote for UPND on August 13 so that you too can get a job, says President Hakainde Hichilema.

Meanwhile, President Hichilema says his government has demonstrated that it delivers on its promises, with the Lusaka-Ndola dual carriage way looking like roads in London.

Speaking at a rally in Kafulafuta, Tuesday, President Hichilema said even those who had been employed should also be early voters in order to keep their jobs.

“The things we have done and the jobs we have created, which many of you know including 45,000 teachers, we will now create more jobs. If you are a teacher and you are not yet employed, you will be next. You will be the one to be employed next. You are a nurse, you are not yet employed, you are next. You will be the one to be employed. Whether you are a technician, a plumber, a carpenter you are next. But for us to continue creating jobs, you need to vote for us on August 13,” he said.

“The message is that if you are not yet employed, you are the one who should be first at the beginning of the queue to vote for UPND so that you too can get the job, that is the message. You who have been employed, you must too be at first or the early voters so that you can keep your job because your family depends on that job. You cannot be given a job and when voting day comes you are sited at home. You must take your family members to vote for the job you got. That is the way you say thank you to the UPND government”.

President Hichilema said his government would work on the roads in Kafulafuta.

“The people of Kafulafuta, your vote will allow us to improve the roads here in Kafulafuta. We have demonstrated that we do what we say. Look at the Ndola-Lusaka Road, isn’t it looking good. Isn’t it looking like London? Who made the road? Is it not the UPND? Isn’t it Bally and his team? If we say something, we deliver. We said free education, we have delivered. We said CDF increased from K1.6 million to K40 million, we have delivered. CDF increment, kwenyu. Lusaka-Ndola road, Kwenyu. We will do the Kafulafuta to Mukushi road. This road will be done. Your vote will allow us to bring a police post here. Your vote will allow us to increase the health centers and hospitals here in Kafulafuta. We are aware of the water problem. It is one of our priorities to work on the water problem so that we can have more water for you in homes here in Kafulafuta. When Bally says something, he delivers,” he said.

President Hichilema has since urged voters not to go backwards, stating that “akabwelela kalalya”.

“This year, we are voting in a suit. We are voting in a chain. Do you know what a suit is the people of Kafulafuta? Same thing. Councilor UPND, council chairperson UPND, MP UPND. Is it clear? President, UPND. You are beautiful people; you know what you need to do on the 13th. Please do not disappoint yourselves. Do not go back. Akabwelela Kalalya. Akabwelela kalalya (he that returns to a place he had decided to leave will finally be eaten by the things he had initially moved away from). August 13 is a big day. Do not make any mistakes. Do not go back. We must not forget where we are coming from. Do you know that HH loves you? Do you love HH? Do you love HH? Now, two people who love each other do one thing. So, today I will ask you to do something because I love you and you love Bally. From today, the people of Kafulafuta, I am asking you to do a job. I am appointing you as HH’s campaign managers,” he said.

“You must campaign everywhere. In the house, taxi, minibus, in the office, after church, even when cooking and even when you bathing. On August 13, I do not want to hear someone saying HH and UPND has won already. Councilor has won already; council chairperson has won or MP, no. We can lose by one vote. We must turn out and vote in big numbers on August 13. That is what I am asking you”.

Meanwhile, speaking at a rally in Mpongwe, the President said government would increase the number of FISP beneficiaries.

“Going forward, we are going to increase the number of people who will be on FISP who will get fertilizer and seed. We will increase that number so that all can get fertilizer. if there are 10,000 people in Mpongwe on FISP, going forward, we will make it 20,000 people. We do not want you to share into medas fertilizer or seed, no. We want more people to get their own allocation. You, the farmers here, are like me in Mpongwe. I am a farmer like you. We are going to increase the number of beneficiaries so that you do not share into small packets. Instead of sharing, now each one will get their own allocation going forward,” said President Hichilema.

“Your vote will allow us to do township roads in Mpongwe. Your vote will allow us to do the Mpongwe-Machiya road. Your vote will allow us to work on the Luansobe- Mpongwe road. Your vote will allow us to deliver a district road here in Mpongwe. I am aware that the FRA has delayed in paying the transporters. From tomorrow, I am beating them down to pay the transporters on time. So, because of our love and care for you that is why we have increased the number of constituencies from one to two here in Mpongwe”.
