THE Socialist Party (SP) says it lost the elections partly because it dedicated more time to building alliances. Party General Secretary Dr Cosmas Musumali says the party spent two and a half years “intensively” trying to build alliances with other political organisations, weakening the Socialist Party ahead of the August elections. The Socialist Party finished fifth in the August 13 presidential election, securing 12,194 votes. The party also failed to secure a parliamentary seat.
