PRESIDENT Hakainde Hichilema yesterday launched his second term with a remarkably well-presented inauguration speech which, in our view, struck many of the right notes for a country emerging from a bruising election. Of particular interest was the humility with which he received his renewed mandate, the reconciliatory tone that seemed to acknowledge the divisions left by the campaigns, the emphasis on inclusiveness and the clear attempt to define a direction for the next five years.   The President described electoral victory not as a licence to dominate, but as a “sacred responsibility to serve the people”, and pledged to use the mandate to strengthen democracy, expand opportunities and build a more prosperous, united and resilient Zambia.
