UPND Deputy Spokesperson Elvis Nkandu says people should actually thank law enforcement agencies for “acting swiftly” to arrest Brian Mundubile and Makebi Zulu in order to protect Zambia’s security. Nkandu says other presidential candidates are not found wanting because they are not involved in illegal activities. Recently, Transparency International Zambia (TI-Z) said the timing of the arrests of Mundubile and Makebi would make it difficult to dispel assertions that it has been done on political lines. TI-Z said it is regrettable that this is happening in the immediate post-election period, during which Zambia appears to be divided along political lines.
