INSPECTOR General of Police Graphel Musamba has warned illegal miners operating in Central Province to “immediately” vacate mining areas or face intensified police operations. The warning follows a mining accident at Mulaushi Mine in the Katikulula Resettlement Area, where four illegal miners died on August 29, 2026. Meanwhile, over 10,000 illegal miners have been removed, while 29 “stubborn” ones have been arrested following the accident.
