FORMER Foreign Affairs minister Harry Kalaba has condemned the continued detention of Tonse Alliance Secretary General Celestine Mukandila. Kalaba has described the revocation of Mukandila’s passport and National Registration Card as a dangerous escalation in the weaponisation of State institutions against political opponents. On Friday, government announced the cancellation of Mukandila’s NRC and Zambian Passport, stating that the documents were obtained through fraud and false declaration. Mukandila is currently detained and was recently granted leave by the Lusaka High Court to issue a Writ of Habeas Corpus, ordering authorities to present him in court to justify his over 14 days detention.
