FORMER Justice Minister Princess Kasune says the percentage of female MPs elected has stagnated despite more women winning seats in the August polls. Kasune adds that there’s need to enact the Political Parties Bill that would mandate political parties to have 50/50 percent female representation, arguing that politics remains a male-dominated space that requires resources and networks. In the August polls, only 32 female MPs were elected out of 224 seats announced, representing 14.3 per cent of Parliament almost the same as the 15 per cent in the previous Parliament.
