GOVERNMENT has disclosed that it released K16.1 billion in August 2026 to fund public services, pay debt, and support social programmes. Government adds that of the K16.1 billion released, K7.6 billion was directed toward debt service and dismantling of domestic arrears, while K4.1 billion financed the Public Service wage bill and related obligations. Meanwhile, government says about K1.8 billion was released to facilitate implementation of government programs and general operations, of which K249.8 million was directed to the Electoral Commission of Zambia to support the conduct of the 2026 General Elections.
