OVER 110 members of parliament have been sworn-in, ahead of the opening of the 14th National Assembly. Meanwhile, after taking her oath of office, Vice-President Mutale Nalumango urged law makers to uphold the principles of democracy, regardless of political affiliation. The ceremony, officiated by Speaker of the National Assembly Nelly Mutti, marks the formal assumption of office by the law makers, following their election in the August 13 polls. The newly-elected MPs will now officially take up their responsibilities as representatives of their respective constituencies. The swearing-in ceremony continues today, when the remaining group of MPs take their oath in line with parliamentary procedures.
