THE Zambia Environmental Management Agency (ZEMA) has reduced environmental impact assessments approval fees under the new environmental regulations. ZEMA has also reduced the time taken to process and approve environmental impact assessments. ZEMA Acting Director General Christopher Kanema says the Environmental Impact Assessment Regulations, Statutory Instrument No. 3 of 2026, were intended to make environmental regulation more efficient, while ensuring that development takes place responsibly.
