A 49-YEAR-OLD pastor has been dragged to the Lusaka Magistrates’ Court for allegedly beating up a former congregant after they had a disagreement.
Allegations in this case are that Pastor Christopher Tembo (accused) wanted to continue fellowshipping in the “Church of God World Mission” after he defected from the said Church, to “Church of God Zambia”.
However, the victim in the matter, Simon Tembo, and others expressed concern over the said decision.
And on November 5, 2020, Simon Tembo was at his nephew’s (John Phiri) house, when the said Pastor Christopher Tembo followed him and accused him of taking bailiffs to the Church of God World Mission.
The Pastor then allegedly started beating Simon using fists and kicks, leading to the victim sustaining a painful head, general body pains and painful teeth.
The matter was later reported to Simon Mwansa Kapwepwe police station and Pastor Christopher Tembo was arrested.
He has now been charged with one count of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
Particulars of the offence allege that on November 5, 2020 in Lusaka, the pastor assaulted Simon thereby occasioning him actual bodily harm.
When the case came up yesterday, it was allocated to Magistrate Mwandu Sakala where the accused is expected to take plea.
