The Food Reserve Agency (FRA) has called for an urgent Board meeting to address the farmers’ grievances over the announced maize purchase price of K60 per 50 kilogram bag.

In a joint statement signed by FRA Executive Director Chola Kafwabulula and ZNFU acting executive Director Ellah Chembe, the two bodies had a lengthy deliberation where FRA announced that it would give its final decision over the matter within the course of next week.

“Food Reserve Agency (FRA) and Zambia National Farmers Union (ZNFU) met today 4th August to discuss the farmers grievances over the FRA maize purchase price of K60 for a 50 kg bag of white maize. After a lengthy deliberation, the FRA management pledged to call for an urgent FRA board meeting to present the farmers position early next week and a final decision will be announced within the course of the week,” read the joint statement.
