DEFENCE Minister Ambrose Lufuma says government has yet again noted an upswing in smuggling of mealie meal. In an interview, Wednesday, Lufuma attributed the recent upswing to better prices offered by neighbouring countries. “I thought what happened was that we had contained the smuggling. We had contained it but now, it is on the upswing again for obvious reasons because there is high demand in terms of the price that is being offered by the neighbouring countries. It is very high compared to what we are offering. We are offering K280 and people are able to buy and go to sell it in neighbouring countries.
