THE Economic and Financial Crimes Court has rejected an application by former tourism minister Ronald Chitotela in which he asked it to dismiss the State’s appeal against the Lusaka Magistrates’ Court’s decision to discharge him of two counts of possession of property suspected to be proceeds of crime. A panel of three judges of the Economic and Financial Crimes Court, High Court division, namely; Edward Musona, Susan Wanjelani and Charles Zulu ruled that they would proceed to hear ACC’s appeal because the commission filed an application to appeal out of time.
