THE Lusaka High Court has sentenced a police officer who was based at Lilayi Police College in Chilanga to 20 years’ imprisonment with hard labour for murdering 20-year-old Moses Theu during a drinking spree. Inspector Fabian Palata was jointly charged with constable Lewis Mufwempa and James Mfula, all from Lilayi, and detective constable Mulonda Mukelabai from Chawama police station. Justice Charles Kafunda however acquitted his co-accused on grounds that they did not take part in the murder and did not have any intentions to do so.
