NRPUP presidential spokesperson George Chisanga has asked the Lusaka High Court to urgently hear his application seeking to challenge his continued detention at Chelstone Police Station. Chisanga is asking the court to allow him to apply for a writ of habeas corpus, a legal process that requires authorities to explain why a person is being detained and, if the detention is found to be unlawful, order their release. He has cited the Attorney General, Inspector General of Police and the Officer in Charge at Chelstone Police Station as respondents in the matter.
