INTERNATIONAL Master (IM) Chitumbo Mwali has successfully defended his National Senior Men’s Chess Championship title after edging six-time national champion IM Andrew Kayonde in an eye-catching encounter played at the Fairview Hotel. Mwali solidified his dominance to clinch the national championship title with back-to-back victories. The Chess gala initially began with all national team players battling it out for glory until Mwali scooped the first position, while Kayonde settled for second place, hence going for two classical matches.
