COMMUNITY Development and Social Services minister Doreen Mwamba has urged unemployed and vulnerable couples to seriously consider taking up family planning to avoid having a large number of children they can’t afford to take care of. Mwamba notes that it’s very irresponsible for a couple to continue having children whom they can’t feed, cloth or educate and expect government to help; in the process putting stress on service providers. According to the JCTR Basic Needs and Nutrition Basket (BNNB) for February 2024, the cost of living for a family of five in Lusaka stood at K10,307.01.
