Four people have died on the spot while 67 others have sustained serious injuries following a head-on collision accident involving a Power Tools bus and a truck in Mkushi this morning.

Central Province Police Commissioner Lillian Lombe Kamukoshi told News Diggers in a statement that the accident occurred 25km east of Mkushi along the Great North Road.

Kamukoshi said the accident happened when the driver of the bus “improperly” overtook another vehicle hence colliding head-on with an oncoming truck.

“The accident involved a Scania bus registration number ABM 6626 belonging to Power Tools which was being driven by Alex Chapel other details unknown. Also involved was unknown driver of Tanzanian truck registration number T236BTC ,T939BYB horse,” Kamukoshi said.

She said that both the bus and the truck were extensively damaged

Kamukoshi said among those that died were the drivers of the bus and truck, and the two passengers who were on the bus.

She further disclosed that all the deceased bodies has been deposited in the Mkushi Hospital Mortuary while the 67 passengers who sustained various injuries were being attended to at the same Hospital.
