UPND spokesperson Charles Kakoma has announced that the opposition political party has embarked on a re-organisation exercise aimed at strengthening structures.

Kakoma also reiterated that the UPND would hold its general conference in due course.

“The UPND has embarked on a reorganisation exercise aimed at strengthening the party. This exercise involves filling up vacant positions and transferring some office bearers from one portfolio to another. This is normal in any organisation and is in line with the UPND constitution which mandates the NEC/NMC to carry out such an exercise in between General Assemblies,” stated Kakoma.

“The party will in due course hold its General Assembly to elect office bearers. At this stage , no one should feel that the exercise is targeted at them to disadvantage them. Names of the office bearers will be announced soon.”

According to sources, UPND deputy secretary general Captain Walusiku Walusiku Lyambela has been dropped but when contacted, Captain Lyambela said, “I am still consulting, I will issue a statement later.”
