The Levy Mwanawasa Foundation has organized an interaction session with people who worked with late president Mwanawasa as part of the celebrations of his legacy at this weekend’s 10th memorial.

In honour of the late president who died on August 19, 2018, the Foundation has further lined up a number of activities and events which include; the inauguration of a five-day photo exhibition by Vice-President Inonge Wina and the actual memorial service to be graced by President Edgar Lungu.

According to a statement issued by Levy Patrick Mwanawasa Foundation chairperson Dr Moses Banda, the event will also be preceded by a public lecture to be delivered by Dr Akashambatwa Mbikusita Lewanika at Mulungushi International Conference Centre (MICC) under the theme: “An Attempt at Good Governance under the Mwanawasa Administration”.

“This month, marks the tenth anniversary of the passing on of His Excellency Dr Levy P Mwanawasa SC, the third Republican president of Zambia. In honour of this period The Levy Patrick Mwanawasa Foundation with the support of the Zambian government has arranged a number of activities to remember, reminisce about his life, hopes, ideals, experience, pitfalls, and indeed frustrations before, during and after his passing. The first event will be the inauguration of a five-day photo exhibition by the Republican Vice-President Madam Inonge Wina MP, on Friday the 17th August, 2018. On display will be photos of the late president, which have been in archives of the family and the public information institutions. This will be followed by an interaction of those who worked with the late president drawn from the public, private sector, civil society organizations, the clergy and the mass media,” Dr Banda stated.

He further stated that other discussants at the public lecture will be Dr Caleb Fundanga, former LAZ president Linda Kasonde and Bishop Paul Mususu.

“On 18th August, 2018, Dr Akashambatwa Mbikusita Lewanika will deliver a public lecture at the Mulungushi International Conference Centre on the theme: ‘An Attempt at Good Governance under the Mwanawasa Administration’. Dr Caleb Fundanga, Ms. Linda Kasonde and Bishop Paul Mususu will be the discussants. On 19th August, 2018, the anniversary of his death, a memorial church service to be graced by His Excellency Mr Edgar Chagwa Lungu, the Republican President, will be held at the Anglican Cathedral of the Holy Cross. The finale will be the laying of wreaths at the resting place of the late third Republican president at the Memorial Park,” Dr Banda disclosed.

And Dr Banda has since extended the invitation to the general membership of the public to attend the memorial lecture and the church service.

He further appealed to the public to use the opportunity to remember and reflect on how the ideals and the administration as well as the life of the late president impacted on their lives.
