CLOSEPresident Edgar Lungu has congratulated Nigeria’s Muhammadu Buhari on his re-election as President.
And President Lungu has equally congratulated Macky Sall on his re-election as President of Senegal for a second term of office following that country’s presidential elections held on Sunday, February 24, 2019.
In a statement issued by State Chief Analyst for Press and Public Relations Cecilia Lubumbashi, Thursday, President Lungu said the re-election of Buhari was a confirmation of the confidence that people of the Federal Republic of Nigeria had in him.
“His Excellency Mr. Edgar Chagwa Lungu, President of the Republic of Zambia, has congratulated Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari following his victory in Saturday’s presidential elections. In a congratulatory message, the President described Mr. Buhari’s re-election as President of Nigeria for a second term as a clear affirmation of the confidence vested in him by the people of Nigeria to lead the nation towards political, social and economic prosperity,” read the statement.
“The President has reaffirmed the Zambian government’s unyielding commitment to further strengthening the relations between Zambia and Nigeria at both the bilateral and multilateral levels for the betterment of the two countries and the African continent at large. Allow me to convey on behalf of the government and the people of Zambia and, indeed, on my own behalf, sincere congratulations on your re-election as President of the Republic of Nigeria. I further look forward to engaging your Excellency in the near future to discuss issues of mutual interest.”
And the Head of State equally congratulated Macky Sall on his re-election as President of Senegal for a second term of office following presidential elections held last Sunday.
“Your re-election is an affirmation of the trust and confidence that the people of the Republic of Senegal have in your capable leadership as well as the vision of the country. Please accept, your Excellency, my best wishes for your continued personal good health and peace and prosperity for the people of Senegal,” read the statement.
