President Edgar Lungu has appointed his Principal Private Secretary Dr Simon Miti as new Secretary to the Cabinet.

According to a statement issued by Special Assistant to the President for Press and Public Relations Isaac Chipampe, Thursday, Dr Miti’s appointment is subject to ratification by parliament.

“In exercise of the powers vested in me by Article 176 of the Constitution of the Republic of Zambia, I hereby appoint you as secretary to the cabinet. Your appointment is subject to ratification by the National Assembly . I wish you God’s speed in the discharge of your duties,” Chipampe quoted President Lungu as saying.

Before this appointment, Dr Miti served as permanent secretary at Cabinet Office, Ministry of National DevelopmentPlanning as well as at the Office of the Vice-President in charge of parliamentary business among others.
