University of Zambia (UNZA) Vice Chancellor Professor Luke Mumba has congratulated School of Veterinary Medicine dean Professor King Nalubamba for being installed as senior chief Nalubamba of the Ila people in Namwala District of Southern Province.

Prof Nalubamba was on Sunday crowned as senior chief at the Mbeza Royal establishment after ascending to the thrown following the death of his father, senior chief Bright Nalubamba, who passed away on June 6, 2019.

In a statement issued by UNZA spokesperson Brenda Bukowa, Monday, Prof Mumba commended the new chief and wished him success as he guides his subjects.

“On behalf of the council, senate, management, staff and students of UNZA, I would like to commend the Ila people of Namwala District for the smooth and peaceful transition. Further UNZA congratulates Prof Nalubamba for ascending to the throne. We wish him success and God’s grace and guidance as he leads his people. UNZA is confident that Prof. Nalubamba is equal to the task given his qualifications, exposure and the mentorship he received from the late Senior Chief,” said Prof Mumba.

Prof Mumba requested prof Nalubamba to continue serving UNZA as an academician saying that his services were still required.

And Prof Mumba also appealed to the Mbeza Royal Establishment to permit their new chief to continue serving at UNZA in his role of developing human capital in Veterinary Medicine.
