MINISTER of Energy Peter Kapala has, again, awarded a fuel supply contract without following tender procedure. Kapala has given a diesel supply deal to Transworld Petroleum Limited, another company which is believed to be close to the ruling party. According to a letter dated November 2 and addressed to the Transworld Petroleum Limited Managing Director and copied to the Ministry of Energy Permanent Secretary technical services and the TAZAMA Pipelines Company Limited Managing Director, Kapala said approval to grant Transworld the contract had been given on terms that the company would supply 100,000MT within the month of December 2023, among other conditions. “Reference is made to your expression of interest dated 16th October, 2023, to supply Gasoil through the TAZAMA...
