THE Zambia Medicines and Medical Supplies Agency (ZAMMSA) says as the year closes, the medical stock availability status in the country stands at 60 percent. And ZAMMSA Director General Victor Nyasulu has defended the President’s statement that the country is at 80 percent in terms of availability of medical stocks, explaining that the remark was in reference to the primary health care system which encompasses health center kits. Meanwhile, Nyasulu says the agency suspended eight procurement officers last month because of their “pathetic” performance where money was available, but procurements of medicines was below par.
