PRESIDENT Hakainde Hichilema has directed that citizens in Lusaka and other urban areas should not use shallow wells as a source of drinking water in the wake of cholera. And the country has in the last 24 hours recorded 371 new cholera cases with 20 deaths, bringing the cumulative number of cases since October 2023 to 5,071 with 195 deaths. Meanwhile, government has banned the sale of perishable and ready-to eat foods in public offices, among other measures, in order to prevent the spread of Cholera.
