WHAT started as an ordinary August day for motorbike transporter Zinge Phiri resulted in some events which completely changed his life a few months later. The Chipata-based motor cycle transporter is currently a few days into his new job of being a midwife, which was awarded to him as a token of appreciation for his act of bravery and kindness by the Ministry of Health after he helped a pregnant woman deliver on the side of the road last year. 28-year-old Zinge Japhet Phiri, a trained but previously unemployed midwife, used his motorbike and medical expertise to safely deliver a baby on the side of the road around 02:00 hours in Chipata.
