ECONOMIST Noel Nkoma says government should consider establishing a special purpose vehicle to operate as an asset management company to safeguard the integrity and accountability of all seized and forfeited assets. On Tuesday, the National Prosecution Authority (NPA) revealed that it had recovered US$30,902,855, which is over K777 million, through non-conviction based forfeiture cases, during the last month. Further, the Economic and Financial Crimes Court, High Court Division, ordered that two properties belonging to former president Edgar Lungu’s daughter, Chiyeso, be forfeited to the State on grounds that they are tainted property.
