THEY say a father who returns from work with a bag of mealie meal should not expect his children to clap for him because that is simply his responsibility. That might be true, but a father who promises to lift his family out of poverty, and actually goes ahead to do just as promised, surely deserves praise because a lot of our parents struggle to achieve that.
