ZESCO Limited Board Chairperson Vickson Ncube says the utility company will not complain about ERB’s decision with regards to the proposed hike in electricity tariffs. The Energy Regulation Board recently rejected Zesco’s proposal to reduce the lifeline units from 100kWh to 75kWh for residential customers. The board has since directed the utility company to maintain the current lifeline units at 100kWh at a reduced tariff from 47ngwee to 40ngwee/kWh. Meanwhile, the board approved the multi-year tariffs for retail (domestic) customers as presented in the tariff schedule effective from May 1, 2023, and has further conditionally approved tariffs for 2024 to 2027 subject to the ERB’s annual review of the Regulatory Clearing Account results.
