LUSAKA High Court Judge Anne Malata-Ononuju has dismissed Raphael Nakacinda’s application for bail pending appeal in a matter where she previously upheld his 18-month sentence for defaming President Hakainde Hichilema. Meanwhile, PF faction vice president Given Lubinda says Nakacinda will proceed with the appeal, stating that the conviction itself is wrong. Last month, Judge Ononuju upheld the 18-month jail sentence handed to Nakacinda by the Lusaka Magistrates’ Court for defamation of the President.
