THE Oil Marketing Companies Association of Zambia (OMCAZ) has urged government to address the monopoly in the Open Access Framework in order to stop the erratic supply of fuel. Recently, Energy Minister Makozo Chikote attributed the temporary fuel supply disruptions to logistical challenges, dismissing allegations that the shortage was due to depleted fuel reserves. This followed concerns from consumers about fuel shortages for the past few weeks. In an interview, Wednesday, OMCAZ president Dr Kafula Mubanga lamented that over 500 licences were issued by the Energy Regulation Board (ERB) but only a few had access to the TAZAMA pipeline.
