THE National Association for Smallholder Farmers (NASFA) says the UPND has underperformed with regards to supporting the small-holder farmers. Recently, government announced that 100 per cent of the money owed to farmers had been released and was ready to be given to farmers who had been waiting to be paid since mid-last year. However, videos continued circulating online showing farmers stranded in bank corridors and queuing up with the hope of getting paid. And giving assurance to the farmers, FRA Board Chairman Suresh Desai said the agency was pushing banks to ensure they clear the farmers within the next few days.
