EIGHTEEN survivors have been rescued following a water traffic accident at Lwanginga river within Kalabo district. In a statement, Commissioner of Police Western Division Rae Hamoonga said the boat carrying 21 passengers capsized after hitting a pillar of the bridge while travelling from Angola towards Kalabo between 03:00 hours and 04:00 on Monday. “The Zambia Police Service Western Division at Kalabo Police Station wishes to inform members of the public of a Water Traffic Accident, which was reported today March 09, 2026, at 04:28 hours and is believed to have occurred between 03:00 hours and 04:00 hours at the Kalabo–Liuwa Bridge in the Lwanginga River within Kalabo District.
