POLICE have arrested four male suspects in connection with the violence that occurred in Chawama on June 5, 2026, bringing the total number of arrests to nine. Zambia Police Public Relations Officer Godfrey Chilabi says the four suspects were apprehended at Protea Hotel in Chipata on June 9, 2026, among a group of individuals who had gathered outside the hotel. Police on Tuesday surrounded Protea Hotel in Chipata, where NRPUP presidential candidate Brian Mundubile and his running mate Makebi Zulu were lodging, in an operation targeting members linked to the Chawama violence.
