AVOCADO Mining Limited has apologized to the people of Kalulushi, Copperbelt Province for releasing emissions that polluted the air and has appealed to the community to allow the company to resume operations. Last year the Zambia Environmental Management Agency (ZEMA) disclosed that two directors of Avocado Mining Limited in Kalulushi had been arrested for environmental violations, while the plant had been shut down indefinitely. This marked the second time the mining company has been closed. The company was found in violation of a cease-and-desist order issued by the Agency on November 7, 2024.
