KABUSHI PF member of parliament Bowman Lusambo says he wants to teach UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema politics, mocking that the opposition leader hasn’t even reached a level where he can be a councillor.
Lusambo, who is also Lusaka Province Minister, was speaking on Saturday when he empowered the ruling Patriotic Front branches in Masala Ward of Kabushi constituency with a K30,000 revolving fund.
“There is my friend Hakainde Hichilema in Lusaka who lives in New Kasama. When my friend Hakainde Hichilema joined politics, he said ‘this political party UPND, there is no one else who can lead it unless a Tonga’. But you people, are there only Tongas in this country? Nga mwamona umuntu alelanda ifyo muma politics ninshi mwaishiba ati uyu ali fulungana (When you see a person saying that in politics, just know that that person is confused). Because for you to be president, you have to be accepted on the Copperbelt, you have to be accepted in Eastern Province, in Luapula, Northern, Muchinga, Lusaka, North-Western, Western and Southern Provinces. Can you be a president of a tribe? Ala ba Hakainde muleichindika (Mr Hakainde you should be respecting yourself),” he said.
“In Zambia, we are ‘one Zambia, one nation’. Nomba uyu umu nandi waku Lusaka Hakainde, ndefwaya inkese musambilishako ama politics (I want to come and teach Hakainde politics). Ama politics tekuya ku University of Zambia (politics is not going to University of Zambia), or CBU (Copperbelt University) or Cavendish (University). In politics, you need to know what to say to the people. You need to know how to give people development, and having a heart for the people. So Hakainde umu nandi talafika napa kuba councillor (so my friend Hakainde hasn’t even reached a level where he can be a councillor). Ala Hakainde, amenshi bapima no bunga (you have to measure water with the mealie meal). You can’t have a big pot when you little mealie meal.”
Lusambo said President Edgar Lungu had brought a lot of development in the short time he had been President.
“We have heard that there are people who are coming to make noise. The Bemba proverb says “Mpombo wi bilima, aba bilima tabaya nakalya”. We want to tell them that “Kabundi chefya umutwe, Impako shaba nabene”. Ala ba Lungu efyo bachitile fyaku papusha (what President Lungu has done is amazing). He has only been President for a short time [but] he has brought a lot of developments. So can you hate a person who is like that?” he asked as the audience responded in the negative.
“Look at how beautiful this place is looking (Masala ward). The Kapalala market which was gutted is being built. Roads are being constructed. The empowerment for marketeers is coming because we were given the money, K300,000. Now is this the person you can reject?”
Meanwhile, Lusambo said President Lungu was working and that Zambians knew this fact.
“Ebalya ba Hakainde, kuti baisa ipompa ati ndefwaya ukuba President? Iwe Hakainde, iwe ulefwaya ukuba President, elo waisa namu ma politics. Waleteka fye bwino ing’ombe. Ala tapali no waishile muku ku kufulunganya ukuteka ing’ombe shobe. (You Hakainde, you want to be President. You joined politics when you were just tending cattles properly. No one came to disturb you when you were tending your cattles). Iwe wali pitile mu privatisation waisa tweba ati twalilele. Apa tatulelala muntu wandi. Natu buka. Ilya gwagu nama sample wachitile, apa tafya chitike, tafya bombe. Edgar Chagwa Lungu ale teka, Edgar Chagwa Lungu ale bomba. Elo ulebomba takwaba uku mufulunganya. So Zambians know that Edgar Chagwa Lungu is working,” said Lusambo.
Lusambo then empowered the branches in Kafubu ward of Kabushi constituency with a K30,000 revolving fund.
On Friday, the Kabushi MP also empowered the branches in Lubuto ward of his constituency with a K30,000 revolving fund.

The campaigns of HH this HH that show intellectual bankruptcy. That is why Ama politics ekuya ku University of Zambia (politics is going to University of Zambia), or CBU (Copperbelt University) or Cavendish (University). It makes a difference, otherwise we have intellectually bankrupt campaigns. In politics, you need to not only know what to say to the people, but share your vision with the people.
