GOVERNMENT has disclosed that it will import mealie meal from South Africa in order to ensure a positive impact on the pricing and availability of the product. And Shoprite country general manager Charles Bota says the chain store has not been spared from the mealie meal crisis as it is currently receiving only 24 per cent of its orders. Meanwhile, Bota has disclosed that Shoprite is currently restricting the sale of 25-kilogram bags of mealie meal to one bag per person until the situation normalises.
