WORLD Bank Country Manager for Zambia Achim Fock says the proposed 2026 National Budget is a well thought through budget. Last Friday, Finance and National Planning Minister Dr Situmbeko Musokotwane presented the national budget in Parliament, totalling K253.1 billion, which is 27.4 per cent of the country’s GDP. Notably, 81.6 percent of the budget is being financed through Domestic Resource Mobilisation (DRM), predominantly taxes and levies. Dr Musokotwane also proposed to increase the number of beneficiaries of the Social Cash Transfer to 1.5 million households from 1.3 million, impacting 8.4 million people.
