AGRICULTURE Minister Reuben Mtolo Phiri says government has projected maize production of 4.5 million metric tonnes for the 2026 farming season. On Wednesday, during the Question for Oral Answer session in the National Assembly, Kamfinsa PF MP Christopher Kang’ombe asked the Minister of Agriculture: a) what the government policy is for enhancing maize production for domestic consumption and export; b) the quantity of maize in metric tonnes government is targeting to produce from 2026 to 2030, year by year, for domestic consumption and export; and c) the role of the Food Reserve Agency in meeting the above targets.
